A Warning for Everyone

Alex Strauss, the Managing Editor for Surviving Mesothelioma said that while there is no firm conclusion about loose-fill asbestos, the correlation of its presence and the rise of mesothelioma rates should be a warning for everyone. He further said, “…this type of insulation in their home…is potentially dangerous and should be dealt with only by certified asbestos abatement professionals.”

More information is needed to confirm the health risk of loose-fill asbestos insulation. In the meantime, homeowners should not try to remove the material by themselves. A laboratory test must be conducted first, the EPA said.
